cottonball asked: your art is amazing!

i especially like the one portrait on newsprint paper... just curious though: is the oil directly on the newsprint paper or is there some kind of transparent primer in between the oil and paper? and if the answer is the former, wouldn't the oil paint eventually eat away at the paper? because, from what i understand, oils have an acidic property to it.. O:

Very good question, the paper was sealed with a layer of rabbit skin glue, and then an additional layer of glue (mod podge) just to make sure the oil doesn’t get into the paper. Typically I use clear acrylic gesso for this kind of project but I was recycling someone’s old materials, hehe.
